Rolling Shutter

If you have plantation shutters and they are starting to loosen up a bit, it can be frustrating. However, these high-quality window treatments can be fixed easily and inexpensively.

If your plantation shutter slats are getting loose, the first thing to do is check their pins. Each slat has a pin on either side that connects them to the stile (the solid vertical rail on the edge of each shutter panel).

How to Tighten Loose Shutters

Sometimes these slat pins become dislodged or broken, so you’ll need to replace them with replacement slat pins from Shutter Repairs Birmingham. These pins are slightly thicker than the original factory pins to ensure they are firmly attached.

Another problem is that the slats can get misaligned, so you may need to adjust them to keep them straight. This is a simple process that involves opening the louver, cleaning it, and setting it back into place with a little polyurethane glue.

You’ll need a screwdriver to open the louver, and you should be able to find the tension adjustment screws that are recessed into the panel on each side. Turn each screw a quarter of a turn to tighten the slats.

These little adjustments can make all the difference between your shutters being floppy and not working properly. So, take a look at them every couple of months and tighten them if they seem to be getting loose.
